The film transports us inside one of the most famous bank robberies of the 1980s: the robbery of the Banestado bank branch in Londrina. The story is told from the point of view of Paulo Ubiratan, an ambitious journalist and radio broadcaster who, after losing his job at Folha de Londrina, goes to the Banestado branch to withdraw his severance pay. That's when he finds himself in the middle of the robbery, and he's taken hostage along with 300 other customers.
The journalist quickly realizes the risk everyone is in — but also that this could be his big chance to save his career with a sensational story. In this curious and twist-filled plot, the unusual unfolding reveals the reflections of a country mired in hyperinflation, unemployment, and debt, where robbers and hostages have more in common than they imagine.
