A modernist painter from Pernambuco, Cícero Dias (1907-2003) settled in Paris in 1973, fleeing the New State political persecution. Despite the distance from his home country, he never lost sight of the colors and sounds of his childhood at the Jundiá house, mixing these roots while living among leading names of the European avant-garde, such as Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger and Joan Miró. From these exchange of influences, raised a painter with international repercussion that transformed his experiences, including his reclusion during World War II, on the basis of an art that transcends any boundaries.
