Favela É Moda reveals the aesthetic and political strength of young black people from the periphery of Rio de Janeiro in search of personal fulfillment in the fashion world. The documentary addresses the recent trend of the emergence of modeling agencies in these peripheries and reveals the dilemmas, dreams, and challenges of young people in search of visibility, renown, and social ascension. It presents us with a generation that believes in the affirmation of identities and sexualities. The film follows the evolution of models from an agency that tries to reverse the scenario of underrepresentation of black bodies and non-standard bodies established in fashion.
