In August 2020, Brazil surpassed the tragic watershed of 100,000 deaths from Covid, but this did not move the government to reconsider its denialist attitude. But amidst this ongoing and multi-faceted tragedy there was nevertheless a glimmer of hope: the vaccines. That same month, Phase 3 studies were announced in Brazil. Who were the people who volunteered for these trials? As a film director eager to explore this subject but unable – in the midst of the quarantine –to meet the “subjects” of this film in person –I decided to turn all of them into filmmakers. Just as they were going to produce a clinical diary for the study, we asked them to also make a personal diary, using their phones. During nine months they welcomed us into their homes, their lives... allowing us to make an intimate film from a distance. They all wanted one day to be able to tell their children and grandchildren that during those dark times they had chosen the right side of History.
